Rules for Indoor Leagues

We follow regular FIFA outdoor laws of the game, except for the following:

  • The penalty spot will be the mark at the edge of the semi-circle of the goal area.
  • Opponents must be a minimum of 3 yards away on all free kicks
  • Slide tackles are not allowed; however, players will not be penalized for having their knee or any other body part on the ground.
  • Referees can send a player from the field for 2 minutes for a caution (yellow card) offense. The team plays 5v4 during these two minutes or until the numbers up team scores a goal.
  • If a player is sent off (red card) they must leave the turf area of the complex immediately. The team plays 5v4 for 2 minutes (or until a goal is scored against them). After that time they can add a player back from their bench but the ejected player may not return.
  • All throw-ins are replaced with kick-ins from the point that the ball went out.
  • All goal kicks are replaced with the goalkeeper throwing the ball out in their own half from within the goal area (the ball must not directly be thrown over the halfway line without someone touching it first)
  • There is no offense for being offside.
  • Players can substitute at any time when the ball is in or out of play but the player leaving the field must do so before the new player can enter.
  • Games have two 22 minute halves and a 5 minute halftime break. There is no additional time for stoppages (other than if a penalty kick is being taken when time expires). All games will start on time at the top of the hour.
  • If the ball hits the ceiling net, the other team will restart with it at the white mark in the middle of the half.
  • If a team is winning by more than five goals, the other team can add one player (6v5). If they are winning by eight goals, the numbers are reduced to (6v4). At ten goals, it can become 7v4 with the advantage to the team losing by ten.
  • All players are required to wear shin guards at all times when on the playing fields.
